Emergency Contraception Western Isles
Emergency contraception is available up to 5 days following unprotected sex or a burst condom. You can either take a pill or have a coil inserted.
Up to 72 hours after a risk of pregnancy you can access a pill in most larger chemists, it is available to all those women under the age of 25 years free of charge. You will be taken into a private room away from the main pharmacy, asked a few questions and issued with the pill.
The pill that is available up to 5 days is only available from a doctor, therefore you would need to see your doctor or attend the sexual health clinic. It is also available at A&E but you may have to wait awhile if it is busy.
