Waverley Care – LGBT Support – Cool2Talk

In rural areas, LGBT people can feel particularly isolated.  This is why in Argyll and Bute and in Highland we work with lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people and those exploring their gender identity or sexual orientation to support them and connect them with their peers and with the wider community.

We do this through one-to-one mentoring, workshops in schools and colleges and by connecting LGBT people with other services and opportunities.  We also provide specialist advice and support to those wha are HIV Positive – from how to discuss the that diagnosis with others to supporting people in accessing treatment.  And we offer a wide range of other services, including free condoms and rapid testing.

Our aim is to support emotional health and wellbeing and to support the integration of LGBT people, which improves physical and mental health.  This is particularly relevant for gay and bisexual men who are dispropotionately affected by HIV in Scotland.

Using our LGBT services could benefit you in many ways including: feeling less isolated, improved sexual health, increases confidence and self esteem, increased skills, knowledge and abilities, meeting new people and getting more involved in your community, improved relationships with family and professional contacts.
